Gateway To Joy - Elisabeth Elliot

Every experience in life,
    even the most unpleasant,
        if offered to Jesus,
            can become a Gateway to Joy.

What Is Seen Is Temporary - 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Therefore we do not lose heart.
Though outwardly we are wasting away,
    yet inwardly we are being renewed
         day by day.
For our light and momentary troubles are
         achieving for us
    an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen,
    but on what is unseen.
For what is seen is temporary,
    but what is unseen is eternal.

Do Not Worry About Tomorrow Or About The Bridge - Matthew 6:34

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow,
    for tomorrow will worry about itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Grace for each day, like a grace-filled bead...
There is no grace available for tomorrow,
          just for today,
    new like Manna every morning...
But looking back, one can see that their life
    has been a continuous string of
         grace-filled beads...

We'll Cross That Bridge
    When We Come To It

Treasure In Jars Of Clay - 2 Corinthians 4:7-9

We have this treasure in jars of clay
    to show that this all-surpassing power
        is from God and not from us.
We are hard pressed on every side,
    but not in despair,
        perplexed,
            but not in despair;
          persecuted,
              but not abandoned,
            struck down,
                but not destroyed.

An Anchor For The Soul - Hebrews 6:19-20

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul,
    firm and secure.
It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain,
    where Jesus, who went before us,
        has entered on our behalf.

Come To Me - Matthew 11:28-30

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened,
    and I will give you rest.
Take my yolk upon you and learn from me,
    for I am gentle and humble in heart, and
        you will find rest for your souls.
For my yolk is easy
    and my burden is light.

"Hear My Cry, O God" - Psalm 61:1-4

Hear my cry, O God;
    Listen to my prayer.

From the ends of the earth I call to you,
    I call as my heart grows faint;
    lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
For you have been my refuge,
    a strong tower against the foe.

I long to dwell in your tent forever
    and take refuge in the shelter of your wings.

The Good Shepherd - John 10:14-15

I am the Good Shepherd;
I know my sheep and my sheep know me –
just as the Father knows me
and I know the Father –
and I lay down my life for the sheep.
